DiMenna, Phipps Lead Seahawk Women's Cross Country to Fifth at CAC Meet

York, Pa. – First-year Michelle DiMenna (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and junior captain Katie Phipps (Severna Park, Md./Chesapeake) earned the first-ever All-Capital Athletic Conference honors for the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country program at the 2011 CAC Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by York College of Pennsylvania at the John Rudy State Park on a cold, snowy Saturday.

Katie Phipps and Michelle DiMenna DiMenna and Phipps garnered second team All-CAC accolades in leading the Seahawks to fifth in the nine-team field.  DiMenna crossed the finish line for the 6K course in 27:20.31 for a 14th-place finish among 89 competitors.  Phipps was not far behind as she finished in 27:21.49 for 15th place.

The next two runners to score for the Seahawks were sophomore Keighly Bradbrook (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and junior captain Margaret Lillie (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill).  Bradbrook completed the course in 28:44.35 for a 39th-place finish while Lillie came in 42nd place in 29:08.74.

Senior captain Kathleen Tatem (Kensington, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) rounded out the top five Seahawk scorers with her 46th-place finish in 29:33.59.

St. Mary's will now have two weeks to recover from today's bitter cold meet before competing at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.  The Seahawks already previewed the regional course on October 8 during the DeSales Invitational.
