Gettysburg, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team competed Saturday morning at the Gettysburg College Invitational, finishing 19th out of 31 competing schools and behind three top 10 regionally-ranked squads as well as several Division I and II institutions.
First-year Michelle DiMenna (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was the Seahawks' top finisher of the day, completing the 6K course in 27:02.86 to finish 123rd out of 361 runners. Sophomore Keighly Bradbrook (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and junior captains Katie Phipps (Severna Park, Md./Chesapeake) and Margaret Lillie (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) rounded out St. Mary's top 200 finishes.
Bradbrook came in 141st in 27:20.98 followed by Phipps two seconds later for a 143rd-place finish while Lillie finished the course in 28:24.75 for a 185th-place finish. First-year Julia Gardner (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) completed the team scoring for the Seahawks, finishing 214th in 28:53.42.
St. Mary's will take a week off before competing on Saturday, October 29 in the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championships. The championship meet will be held at John Rudy State Park near the campus of York College of Pennsylvania.
