St. Mary's City, Md. – The Dig Pink Rally Event hosted by the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team on Saturday, October 18th was a huge success as the Seahawks were able to donate over $500 to The Side-Out Foundation, helping to support the fight against breast cancer.
First-year head coach Jeremy Sands said, "Our team really worked hard on creating a fantastic event for Dig Pink. I'm proud on how well they organized, marketed, and conducted the entire operation. Mandy Goodspeed, Carissa Hill, and our entire Seahawk Nation made this a top notch event."
"We look forward to putting this on every year and continuing our efforts in raising awareness and funds to help support the fight against breast cancer. When all was said and done, we exceeded our goal of a $500 donation to The Side-Out Foundation, which is an awesome feeling," added Sands.
St. Mary's was able to raise the funds through donations as well as the proceeds from pink Seahawks Volleyball t-shirts sold by the team.
"The team was able to raise over $500 to support The Side-Out foundation, which funds research for revolutionary breast cancer treatment. This was such an important event for us as young women to host, so that awareness about breast cancer is spread throughout the college campus," expressed event organizer, junior middle hitter Mandy Goodspeed (Columbia, Md./Atholton).
"We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, so it was an issue close to everyone's hearts as well. The Seahawks volleyball team is proud to support such a worthy cause!"
The Seahawks want to thank all their family, friends, and fans that were a part of making Dig Pink® such a success.
