St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team announced their 2014 schedule, which is highlighted by a trip to Puerto Rico and features five opponents that competed in last year's NCAA Tournament.
This fall's lineup is comprised of a return trip to the Lycoming College Warrior Tip-Off Classic plus an additional 12 non-conference matches to go along with the Seahawks' nine-match Capital Athletic Conference slate.
St. Mary's opens up the 2014 campaign on its home court inside the Michael P. After returning from the Caribbean island, the Seahawks will remain on the road for their next nine matches.
The first road stop will be at Goucher College on Sept. 12 before heading the next day to Stevenson University, who finished ranked 19th in the final national rankings and advanced to the NCAA Third Round, for a tri-match with Stevenson and Franklin & Marshall College.
The following weekend, the Seahawks will be at a tri-match hosted by NCAA Tournament participant, Washington & Lee University, on Sept. 20 with Bridgewater (Va.) College. The team will then look to defend their title at the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic, which runs from Sept. 26-26, joining Misericordia University, Lycoming, Montclair State University, and Pennsylvania College of Technology.
When St. Mary's finally returns home on Oct. 1, the squad will kick off their CAC schedule against Southern Virginia University at 7 p.m. before traveling for their next two conference matches at Salisbury University (Oct. 8) and Penn State Harrisburg (Oct. 11).
The conference schedule continues at home with York College of Pennsylvania on Oct. 15 while the Seahawks host another tri-match with league foe, University of Mary Washington, and in-state opponent, McDaniel College, on Oct. 18. St. Mary's takes on additional NCAA Tournament participants in Christopher Newport University (Oct. 22), the defending CAC champion, and Gallaudet University (Oct. 24).
The final conference matches of the season will take place on Oct. 25 versus Frostburg State University at 1 p.m., Oct. 29 versus Marymount (Va.) University at 7 p.m., and Nov. 1 at Wesley College at 7 p.m. The CAC Tournament begins Nov. 4 with the championship decided on Nov. 8.
