How it Happened

  • The Seahawks' defense played tremendously this evening with the ball on their defensive end for the majority of the first half. When the ball was on the Seahawks' attacking side, they made it count by getting six shots off in the first half, compared to Southern Virginia's two shots. The first half of the match ended in a draw with the score at 0-0.

  • In the second half, Southern Virginia tallied five shots and two corner kicks but still was unable to find the back of the net. Possession knocked back and forth for the majority of the half. The Seahawks were able to fire off six shots in the second half.

  • With the match almost ending in a draw, Emma Schroeder placed the ball perfectly for Lauren Giron to fire off a shot that found the back of the net. The goal was scored with 20 seconds left in regulation time and is Giron's first goal of the season.
