Dover, Del. – Sophomore forward Tori Eskay (Damascus, Md./Urbana) recorded her first career hat trick in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team to their second win of the season – a 4-1 triumph over Wesley College in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.
With her hat trick, Eskay has already matched her goal output from last year as she currently leads the team with six scores thus far while the win snapped a two-game losing skid for St. Mary's.
Eskay led the Seahawks (2-4-1, 2-1 CAC) to a 2-1 halftime lead, scoring her first two unassisted goals in a six-minute span with her team holding a 2-0 margin at 14:29.
Wesley (1-7-1, 0-4 CAC) cut the lead to one at 40:40 as first-year Kasey Lynn (Orangeville, Pa./Central Columbia) finished off a pass from sophomore defender Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford).
Eskay tallied her final unassisted goal of the night just 3:22 into the start of the second half while sophomore midfielder Liza Sitz (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) notched her first goal of the season off an assist from Eskay at 54:51.
St. Mary's finished the contest with an 18-10 advantage in shots and an 8-0 margin in corner kicks.
First-year Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford) turned away five shots in 72 minutes of action while fellow classmate Shelby Perkins (Forest Hill, Md./Notre Dame Prep) made one stop in the final 18 minutes.
Sophomore Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) picked up seven saves in the loss for the Wolverines.
The Seahawks hope to continue their winning ways this Saturday, October 2 when they host Hood College in another conference match at 12:00 pm in conjunction with the Hawktober Festival festivities.
