St. Mary's City, Md. – Sophomore forward Sarah Pfundstein (Crofton, Md./South River) netted the contest's only goal to lift Salisbury University to a 1-0 victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Pfundstein brought the ball down the left side before ripping a shot from the top left corner of the box into the top right corner of the goal at 49:25.
St. Mary's (1-4-1, 1-1 CAC) dominated all offensive categories with a 12-7 advantage on shots as well as a 7-3 margin in corner kicks but the offense was hampered by seven offsides calls.
Salisbury's sophomore goalie Melissa Orgera (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) denied four of the Seahawks' seven first-half shots to keep the home team off the scoreboard while only one shot for the Sea Gulls (3-6, 2-1 CAC) was on target.
Orgera finished the afternoon with seven saves while first-year Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford) picked up two stops in the loss.
The Seahawks hope to snap their two-game losing skid on Wednesday, September 29 when they travel to Dover, Del. to take on Wesley College in another conference tilt at 7:00 pm.
