St. Mary's Women's Rowing Opens Up Fall Season

Philadelphia, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's rowing team took part in their first meet of the 2018-19 campaign, competing at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The novice eights notched the highest finish for the Seahawks, grabbing 27th in their race.

How It Happened

  • The novice eights posted a time of 18:25.7 for 27th of 29.
  • The varsity eights finished in 15:18.8, grabbing 33rd place in a field of 50. The University of Pennsylvania won the event in 13:45.3.
  • The varsity fours finished 41st of 43 in a time of 18:48.6 despite mechanical difficulties with the boat during a 1,000 meters of the race.
  • Across all three events, 11 athletes competed in their first race as Seahawks.
