NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball (7-19, 3-11 CAC) concluded their 2018-19 season in the quarterfinals of the CAC Tournament with a loss at No. 1 seeded Christopher Newport (21-5, 11-3 CAC) on Tuesday (Feb. 19) night. The Seahawks fell to the Captains 86-60.

How It Happened
CNU used a seven-point run to start the game, until Kate Robey drained a three-pointer to stop the early bleeding. The Captains outscored the Seahawks 19-6 for the remainder of the opening quarter. St. Mary's College struggled to take care of the ball, committing 10 turnovers in the opening stanza. Both squads shot 50 percent from three.
The Seahawks cut down on their turnovers with just three in the second quarter, but were still outscored by the Captains 21-16. St. Mary's College headed into halftime trailing 47-25.
After a tough third quarter, the Seahawks finished the game strong with a 21 point fourth quarter. St. Mary's College played sound basketball, limiting themselves to zero turnovers and creating seven on the defensive end. The Seahawks tallied four points off of CNU's turnovers and shot 50 percent from three.

Robey, Janey Mathisen, and Kobey Chaney led the Seahawks offensively with 11 points each. Additionally, Robey, Mathisen, and Chaney dished out a team-high four assists.
