The Seahawks used a 24-11 run to stake their first lead of the game, 31-29, at 4:58 as Owens went 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Back-to-back layups returned the lead to Wesley 32 seconds later but St. Mary's responded with a 10-0 run that included triples by Payne and Wilkins to claim an eight-point margin at the break.
Wilkins put up eight first-half points on 3-of-3 shooting to pace the Seahawks while junior guard Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) scored 11 to lead all players at intermission.
St. Mary's stretched its lead to nine early in the second stanza before Wesley (6-17, 3-11 CAC) countered with an 11-0 run, including consecutive three-pointers by first-year guard Pez Scott (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen), to establish a 48-46 lead at 11:26. Owens helped to turn it around as she scored five in a 6-0 run to regain the lead for good at 7:04.
Miller finished the contest with game-bests of 22 points and five steals while junior guard Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) added 10.
