Rochester, N.Y. – Sophomore Bridget Wilkins (Washington, D.C./Washington Waldorf) poured in a career-high 17 points as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team fell short in the championship game of the Nazareth College Holiday Tournament, dropping a 58-43 decision to host Nazareth in the title match Saturday afternoon.

Wilkins notched 14 of her 17 game-high points in the second half as she went 5-of-8 from the field over the final 20 minutes.  Sophomore forward Shana Lewis (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was the other Seahawk to post double-digit points as Lewis added 12 points to garner All-Tournament Team honors for the second time this season while also hauling in a team-best eight rebounds.

Nazareth (6-3) came out of the gates firing as the Golden Flyers boasted a 19-3 lead at 10:07 following a 13-0 start to the contest.  The 16-point margin was the biggest for the home team the entire game.  Wilkins connected on the Seahawks' first field goal of the day at 9:52 to snap a 0-for-11 start by the team.  St. Mary's used an 8-0 run to close the gap to 19-11 at 6:27 but could get no closer as Nazareth held a 29-20 halftime advantage.

Lewis paced all players with eight points at halftime while Lewis and sophomore forward Marché Pearson (Laurel, Md./Laurel) grabbed five rebounds each.

The Golden Flyers began the second half with a 9-2 spurt to reestablish a double-digit lead, owning a 38-22 advantage at 14:10.  St. Mary's responded with 10-0 run to pull within six with 9:51 left as Wilkins scored six straight points.  But Nazareth pulled away for good with an 11-3 answer as senior guard Danielle Chamberlain (Castorland, N.Y./Beaver River) ignited the run with back-to-back three-pointers.

The Seahawks (4-8) will look to return to the win column on Wednesday, January 4 when St. Mary's returns to Capital Athletic Conference action against Marymount (Va.) University in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena at 6:00 pm.
