Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. – Despite a career-best 23 points and season-best eight rebounds from senior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie School), the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team suffered a 66-65 overtime setback at the hands of visiting Salisbury University Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action.

Salisbury's sophomore forward Nicole Sisco (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) made the first of two free throws to knot the game for the fifth and final time at 63-all with 1:30 remaining in the extra period.  The Seahawks missed back-to-back jumpers before Sisco struck again to give the Sea Gulls a two-point edge with 40 seconds left.

Sophomore guard Pui Sham's (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) three-point attempt was off the mark for St. Mary's and senior guard Chante' McKinney (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) was fouled on the ensuing play.  McKinney made only the first of her two free throws as first-year Jasmine Smith (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) grabbed the defensive board and the Seahawks called a timeout at 00:06.  First-year Marche Pearson (Laurel, Md./Laurel) made the layup for St. Mary's to close the gap to one but time ran out for the Seahawks.

Junior forward Taylor Petrisko (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was the only other Seahawk to score in double figures as Petrisko collected 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals in her fourth start of the season.

Salisbury (6-10, 4-4 CAC) headed into the locker room at halftime with a 29-27 edge as the Sea Gulls outscored St. Mary's 12-2 in the final five minutes of the first half, overcoming an eight-point deficit.  Roberts led all scorers with 14 first-half points while Sisco had 10 at the break.

St. Mary's (8-8, 4-4 CAC) erased a seven-point setback of their own in the second half to boast a 60-52 advantage with 2:53 left in regulation as Roberts converted on two free throws.  The Seahawks were unable to hold on to the win as Salisbury closed out the second stanza on an 8-0 run.

Sisco paced her team in the win with a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds while McKinney added a game-best 12 boards and eight points.  Junior guard KC Curran (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) chipped in 10 points.

St. Mary's welcomes Stevenson University to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics and Recreation Center Arena this Saturday, January 22 for another conference tilt at 2:00 pm.  The Seahawks needed overtime to defeat Stevenson in their first meeting of the season on December 4th.
