St. Mary’s Opens Season at Mary Washington Opener

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's cross country team opened their 2019 season with a fifth place finish at the Mary Washington Opener.

The Basics:

  • Place – 5th of 6 /93 points
  • Location – Clift Farms – Fredericksburg, Va.

St. Mary's Top 5 Finishers:

  • Sophomore Tyler Wilson started his year right where he left off last year as he was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line with a time of 17:31.34 which put him in 29th overall. 

  • Ronald Wong was the second St. Mary's College of Maryland runner to finish with a time of 19:29.34.  

  • Nathan Sayers started off his Seahawk career with a top 5 finish on the team and would be the third to finish with a time of 19:43.47.

  • Right behind Sayers would be another first year in Pieter Enkema as he ran a 20:02.50.

  • Rounding out the top five for the Seahawks was sophomore Frank Zimmer as he completed the course in 21:02.90.

Other Race Highlights

  • Mary Washington's Patrick Brown would win the event with a time of 15:44.32 and Mary Washington would also win overall with a total score of 31.
