ARLINGTON, Va. - A dominant second half performance propelled the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team (7-3) to a 12-7 victory over the Marymount University Saints (1-7) on Wednesday (Mar. 20) afternoon in non-conference action. The Seahawks outscored the Saints 9-3 in the second half.

How It Happened
Marymount controlled the pace of play in the first quarter and took a 3-1 advantage over St. Mary's College into the second quarter. Max Groen tallied the Seahawks lone goal in the first stanza.
The second quarter was another low scoring segment of the game, but the Seahawks managed to top the Saints 2-1 and headed into halftime trailing 4-3. Erich Wuesthoff and Ray LaPlaca found the back of the net in the quarter.
The Saints opened up the second half with a goal on a man-up opportunity for a two goal lead. However, the Seahawks took control of the game shortly after for the comfortable victory. St. Mary's College quickly struck with a four-goal run, taking their first lead of the game, 7-5. Ben Claffee, Connor Benhoff, Jeremiah Clemmer, and Abe Hubbard buried shots into the back of the cage during the run.
The Seahawks and Saints exchanged scores to start the fourth quarter, but the Seahawks closed out the game strong with another four-goal run. LaPlaca (2), Hubbard, and Clemmer beat the opposing goalkeeper during the scoring burst. The Saints responded with a goal with 5:37 remaining, but the Seahawk defense clamped down the rest of the way for the victory.

LaPlaca (3g, 1a) and Clemmer (2g, 2a) led the Seahawks with four points each. LaPlaca's four points on the afternoon was his best mark of the season. Wuesthoff followed with three points off of one goal and two assists.
Tommy Rinder led the Seahawks scooping up five ground balls, while also causing two turnovers. Cristian Quiroa paced the Seahawks with a team-best three caused turnovers. In goal, Ross Snodderly collected six saves.
