LaGuerre Picks Up another All-America Honor

St. Mary's City, Md. – D3hoops.com released their 2015 All-America teams on Saturday, March 21st, and senior captain Nicholas LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) claimed a spot on the fourth team.

This is LaGuerre's second All-America accolade this season after notching a spot on the NABC Coaches' Division III All-America Second Team on March 19th. He is just the third Seahawk in program history to earn All-America honors but the first to collect a pair of All-America honors.

The 6-3 guard is also the first Seahawk to garner a second team All-America selection as Sheldon Taylor '01 was a D-III News All-America Honorable Mention in 2001 and Alex Franz '11 was a 2011 D3hoops.com All-America Fourth Team pick.

LaGuerre was named to the NABC Coaches' All-Middle Atlantic District First Team on March 18th, wrapping up his career as a three-time All-District honoree after picking up second team accolades as a sophomore (2013) and junior (2014).

On St. Patrick's Day, he was named to the East Team roster for the 2015 Reese's Division III College All-Star game, which was played on Saturday in Salem, Virginia. In the contest, LaGuerre started the game and added 10 points, three boards, and three assists in 21 minutes. He is the second Seahawk to play in the All-Star game as Alex Franz '11 played in the 2011 Reese's All-Star game.

LaGuerre added 2015 D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region First Team honors to his postseason award list on March 16th, finishing as a two-time D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region selection as he earned a spot on the third team in 2013.

LaGuerre was named the 2015 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year on March 2nd and wrapped up his outstanding career as a three-time first team All-CAC honoree. He joined Taylor (2001) and Franz (2011) as the only St. Mary's players to be named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year in the 25-year history of the conference.

LaGuerre led the Seahawks to an 86-25 overall record and a 50-12 CAC mark during his four-year career. St. Mary's garnered three CAC regular-season titles (2012, 2013, and 2015), two NCAA Tournament berths (2012 and 2013), and the 2013 CAC championship title under his leadership.

A two-year team captain, he finished in the Top 20 among 250 Division III players ranked in three categories – 13th in scoring with 22.0 points per game, 23rd in total points with 551, and 25th in free throws made with 142.

LaGuerre also ranked in the Top 10 among conference players in six categories – first in scoring, fourth in free throw percentage (77.6%), sixth in assists with a 3.2 average, seventh in steals with a 1.8 average, and ninth in field goal percentage (47.6%) and three-point field goal percentage (36.9%). He led the team in scoring and three-point shooting.

A four-time CAC Player of the Week this season, LaGuerre scored in double digits in all but one game, matching his career-best of 36 points in the CAC semifinals against Christopher Newport University. He tallied 20 or more points in 15 games, including four 30-point performances.

LaGuerre notched 1,581 points in 111 games to finish third all-time while shooting 47.7% (532-of-1,115) from the field, including 37.8% (197-of-521) from downtown. He also shot 77.3% (320-of-414) from the free throw line and grabbed 353 rebounds, dished 331 helpers, and picked 194 pockets.
