No. 11 St. Mary's Men's Basketball Faces Alvernia in NCAA Second Round

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team takes to the road Saturday for the second round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Seahawks will take on Alvernia University on Saturday night at 7:00 pm at the Physical Education Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

St. Mary's (25-3) is enjoying its fifth overall and fourth straight, NCAA tournament appearance. The Seahawks advanced to the second round with an 85-76 win over No. 24 MIT this past Saturday night. Four players scored in double digits, led by sophomore guard Nick LaGuerre's (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) 19 points. Following St. Mary's win, the Seahawks own a 9-4 record in NCAA tournament play, having advanced to the Elite Eight in 2011.

Alvernia (24-4) is making its eighth appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Crusaders, who own a 7-8 record in NCAA action, advanced to the NCAA Final Four in their first NCAA trip in 1997, falling 85-82 to the eventual national champion, Illinois Wesleyan College, in the semifinals. Alvernia is hosting Saturday's second round contest following its 97-78 victory over Albertus Magnus College as junior forward Brian Parker (Chichester, Pa./Chichester) led a quartet of double-digit scoring Crusaders with 26 points.

TICKETS: There will be a presale for tickets to Saturday night's second round game at the St. Mary's athletics offices suite in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics and Recreation Center near the building entrance closest to Glendening Hall. We will start taking ticket orders tomorrow at 9:00 am all the way through Thursday, March 7 at 5:00 pm. After Thursday, you'll need to contact the Alvernia University athletic department to purchase tickets.

Prices for Saturday's contest are $6 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and students. Children younger than 2 years of age are free. The NCAA has allotted 450 tickets for St. Mary's fans.
