MacAuley, Spencer Earn All-CAC Men's Basketball Honors

York, Pa. – The 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-Stars were announced Tuesday morning by league commissioner, Tom Byrnes, and St. Mary's College of Maryland had two representatives in captains Christian MacAuley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) and Devin Spencer (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic).

MacAuley earned first team honors while Spencer garnered a spot on the second team.

For MacAuley, the 2011 CAC Rookie of the Year, this is his first selection to the first team.  The 6-8 sophomore forward led the conference in blocking for the second consecutive season with 64 blocks and a 2.5 average.  MacAuley's blocking average ranks 13th in Division III.  He is second in the conference with a team-best 59.0-field goal percentage and third with a 7.2 rebounding average.  MacAuley led the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game as he started all 26 games for the Seahawks.

Spencer is reaping his first-ever postseason honor with his selection to the second team.  Playing in 25 contests with 23 starts, the 5-11 guard paced the team in scoring (10.8 points per game), three-point shooting, free throw percentage, and assists.  Spencer ranks second in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio with 1.5, third in free throw percentage with 82.5%, fifth in three-point field goals made with 53, sixth in assists with 66 and ninth in three-point field goal percentage with 35.6%.

This season, Spencer was a two-time PrestoSports Pride of Maryland Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

St. Mary's (19-7) will be making its fourth NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament appearance on Thursday, March 1 as the Seahawks host Bethany (W.Va.) College in first round action at 7:00 pm in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
