Spencer Notches Back-to-Back Pride of Maryland Player of the Week Award

Rockville, Md. – For the second consecutive week and the third time this season, junior captain Devin Spencer (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) has earned PrestoSports Pride of Maryland Player of the Week honors as announced by PrestoSports Monday afternoon.

Spencer averaged 17.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to wins over Salisbury University and Wesley College to move the Seahawks a half game ahead of the University of Mary Washington in the Capital Athletic Conference standings.

He shot 60.0-percent from the field, including 50% from downtown, as well as 77.8-percent from the free throw line.  Spencer also dished out 3.0 assists per game while collecting 1.0 steals per game.

The 5-11 guard started the week by leading St. Mary's in scoring with 16 points in its 59-42 win over Salisbury University on Wednesday as Spencer shot nearly 64% from the floor.  He also contributed three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Spencer followed that up with a game-best 19 points in the Seahawks' 94-68 victory at Wesley College this past Saturday.  He went 5-of-9 from the field, including three triples, and 6-of-8 from the foul line while adding five boards, four assists and one steal.

Spencer is third in the Capital Athletic Conference in both free throw percentage (83.6%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5).

St. Mary's will be back in action on Saturday, February 11 as the Seahawks welcome Frostburg State University (12-11, 9-5 CAC) to Ed Cole Court in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena for a league contest at 4:00 pm.
