Fredericksburg, Va. – Senior defender Sophie Michel (Westminster, Md./Westminster) garnered the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week award for the week of September 18. This is Michel's first conference weekly honor of her career.

She earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week after picking up four defensive saves in a 2-1 week for St. Mary's College of Maryland.

The 5-6 defender notched a defensive save in a 2-1 shootout loss to Roanoke College on Saturday before adding a program single-game record of three defensive saves in a 3-1 win over Susquehanna University the next day.

Michel currently leads the CAC with five defensive saves this season.

The Seahawks (3-4) will be back in action on Wednesday, September 20 as St. Mary's travels to Winchester, Va. to take on Shenandoah University in non-conference action at 4:00 p.m.
