St. Mary's City, Md. - According the inaugural Capital Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll, the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team is expected to finish middle of the pack in the regular season conference standings as the Seahawks came in fourth in the preseason poll.

Last season, St. Mary's ended with a 10-6 (3-3 CAC) mark and recorded the program's first 10-win campaign since 2010. Seventh-year head coach Katie Newkirk and her 2014 Seahawks are poised to continue their upward move with all three of their CAC all-stars back in their arsenal.

Experience is definitely on the side of the Seahawks as this year's squad features 17 returning letterwinners with five first-years and two transfers looking to work themselves into the mix.

Offensively, St. Mary's is stacked with the return of last year's three top scorers, including Brady Wolf '17 (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School), the reigning CAC Rookie of the Year. Joining Wolf on the forward line will be team captain Olivia Edwards '15 (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), and Alli Szymanski '17 (Easton, Md./Easton) as the trio amassed 23 goals last season - more than half of the team's scoring.

Conference all-star Grace Reingruber '16 (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) resumes her role as the midfield general while Emily Bishop '16 (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron), Emily Smithers '16 (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson), and Ally Dahlen '16 (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) will provide great depth and experince in the middle of the field.

Three-year starting goalkeeper Christy Bishop '15 (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) and defenders Daniella Hanacek '15 (Rockville, Md./T.S. Wootton) and Morgan Lempke '15 (Easton, Md./Easton) will look to deny the opposing attack.

St. Mary's opens up at home this Friday, August 29th as they welcome Delaware Valley College to Seahawk Stadium for a game at noon.
