St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team will be holding a coed 4 vs. 4 fundraising volleyball tournament this Sunday, January 18th at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center (ARC) on the St. Mary's campus.
Teams will consist of 4 players with any combination of gender (only 2 current Seahawk volleyball players per team). Minimum age requirement is 18 years old and all players who are not St. Mary's students or employees are required to sign a waiver. The maximum amount of teams will be 20.
Sign-ups for the tournament can be done at the ARC Welcome Desk or by emailing Head Coach Jeremy Sands at email@example.com. You must submit all 4 players at the time of sign-up with contact information for each player.
The entry fee will be $20 per person/$80 per team. Four-person team entries as well as individual entries will be accepted. Individual entries will be pooled and formed into a 4-person team by a blind draw. Entry fees will be collected on the day of the tournament.
Check-in time for the tournament will be 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The tournament will start at 3:00 p.m. and will conclude with the championship match.
The format will be pool play with a single-set match to 21 points. The point cap is 21 and you do not have to win by two. After pool play, teams will be seeded into a single-elimination playoff bracket with a one-set match to 25 (no cap). There may be two or three playoff brackets depending on participation and skill level. Prizes will be awarded to the championship team.
