St. Mary's City, Md. - Veteran's Day will be the start of the St. Mary's College of Maryland Student-Athlete Advisory Committee-sponsored Food Drive to benefit the food pantry at St. Cecilia's Church of St. Mary's City. The food drive will run from Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 20.
Along with working to benefit those in need, St. Mary's is also competing against its fellow Capital Athletic Conference institutions - Frostburg State University, Hood College, University of Mary Washington, Marymount (Va.) University, Salsibury University, Stevenson University, York (Pa.) College, and Wesley College. The winner will be determined by the weight of the non-perishable items collected during the 10-day food drive.
The food pantry is in desperate need of non-perishable food items and/or any other household items, such as laundry detergent and soap. You can donate your items to collection boxes at the following location: Cook's, The Grind at the Campus Center, Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Welcome Desk, and St. Jame's Deli & Spirits.
At the Cherry Cove Seahawk Tip-Off Women’s Basketball Tournament on November 18 and 19, free admission will be given to anyone from the general public who brings a non-perishable item to any of the four games that weekend.
PLEASE spread the word and let’s make this a GREAT food drive!
