Seahawk Women's Cross Country Competes at NCAA Mideast Regional

Center Valley, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team wrapped up the 2011 season with a 42nd-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by DeSales University Saturday afternoon as sophomore Keighly Bradbrook (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) paced the Seahawk squad.

Bradbrook finished the 6K DeSales cross country course in 27:39 to finish 220th amongst 335 competitors, averaging a 7:29-minute mile.

Johns Hopkins University captured the team title with 78 points as four Blue Jays finished in the top 25 while Dickinson College's Taylor Ludman claimed the individual title in 22:33, edging Franklin & Marshall College's Sheena Crawley by just one second.

Junior captain Katie Phipps (Severna Park, Md./Chesapeake), who earned second team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors on October 29, was the next to cross the finish line for the Seahawks as Phipps finished 222nd in 27:42, running the mile in 7:27.

The third finisher for St. Mary's was fellow second team all-league performer, first-year Michelle DiMenna (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep).  DiMenna completed the course in 27:51 for 235th place as she averaged a 7:14-minute mile.

Junior captain Margaret Lillie (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill) became the fourth Seahawk to cross the finish line as Lillie notched a 242nd-place finish in 28:00 while first-year Julia Gardner (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) completed the team scoring for the Seahawks, finishing 264th in 28:43.

Junior Alex Moore (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) did not score for the Seahawks but finished in 297th place in 30:10.
