St. Mary's Stays Local for Next Cross Country Coach
Scott Devine, the director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, announced Thursday morning that Lynn O’Dell has been named the second head coach of the Seahawk men’s and women’s cross country programs. O’Dell is no stranger to St. Mary’s County as she has served as a physical education and health teacher in the St. Mary’s County Public School System for the past 19 years.

St. Mary's Cross Country Teams Wrap up Second Annual 24-Hour Run
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s and women’s cross country teams circled the track on the St. Mary’s City campus 784 times and raised $3064 in conjunction with their Second Annual 24-Hour Run to benefit the Southern Maryland Vacation for Vets organization and fundraise for the cross country program on Friday-Saturday, April 8-9.

The Seahawks finished 22nd in the 25-team field that included three nationally-ranked programs and seven regionally-ranked teams.

First-year Shannon Rafferty collected her second consecutive top 5 finish in helping the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Coach Achtzehn Classic hosted by York (Pa.) College Saturday morning.

Behind three top 15 placements, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s cross country team notched a fifth-place finish at the Green Terror Challenge hosted by McDaniel College Saturday morning. It was a tight team race as the third-, fourth-, and fifth-place teams were separated by eight points. St. Mary’s tallied 58 points in the 11-team field, missing a fourth-place finish by just six points.
