Kodan, Hlavinka Named to Volleyball All-Conference Teams

Complete All-CAC Teams

York, Pa. Senior Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and junior Gena Hlavinka (Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) represented St. Mary's College of Maryland on the 2010 All-Capital Athletic Conference volleyball teams released Tuesday afternoon by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes.

Claire Kodan This is Kodan's fourth all-conference selection, including three first-team honors in 2007, 2009 and this year's nod.  The 5-11 outside hitter paced the Seahawks offensively with 310 kills for a 2.61 average while serving up a second-best 44 aces for a 0.37 average.  Kodan contributed defensively as well with team-highs of 346 digs and a 2.91 average.  She added 33 total blocks on 13 block solos and 20 block assists.  Kodan tallied nearly 21% of the team's 1844 points with 377 of her own.

Within the conference, Kodan ranked seventh in kills and ninth in points with a 3.17 average.  She wraps up her outstanding four-year career with 1,552 points; 1,298 kills; 1,101 digs; 203 blocks and 127 service aces.

Gena Hlavinka Today's selection marks the first postseason honor for Hlavinka.  The 6-0 middle blocker was on the team and eighth in the conference with a .277 hitting percentage on a second-best 262 kills in 599 attempts.  Hlavinka was third as well in blocks with 61 on 23 solo blocks and 38 block assists.  She chipped in 67 digs and 12 service aces as well.

For the fourth time in seventh-year head coach Morris Davis' tenure, St. Mary's finished with 20+ victories as the Seahawks posted a 22-10 (5-3 CAC) overall record, bowing out of the CAC tournament in the first round to York (Pa.) College.
