Mary Washington Outlasts Seahawk Volleyball
St. Mary's City, Md. – University of Mary Washington overcame a 0-2 deficit for a five-set victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team in Capital Athletic Conference action Thursday night, snapping the Seahawks' seven-match win streak.
St. Mary's (15-6, 3-2 CAC) seemed well on its way to its third consecutive victory sweep, including its second in a row over a conference opponent, as the Seahawks claimed 25-18, 25-18 triumphs in the first two sets.
However, Mary Washington (15-7, 4-2 CAC) had other ideas as the Eagles edged St. Mary's, 25-22, 25-20 in the next two sets to even up the match at 2-2. The visitors carried their momentum into the final and deciding set, pulling out a 15-11 victory for the key league match win.
