Seahawks Split in First Day Action at Susquehanna Invitational
Selinsgrove, Pa. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team split its opening matches Friday night at the two-day Susquehanna University Invitational. The Seahawks (8-7) dropped a 3-0 decision to Franklin & Marshall College before rebounding with a sweep of FDU-Florham.

Franklin & Marshall (11-2) definitely was not dominant
in this 3-0 win as the Diplomats captured each set by only a
two-point margin (25-23, 27-25, 26-24).
Junior outside hitter Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) commanded the Seahawk offense with a match-high 11 kills and one service ace, while notching eight digs and one block assist on defense. Senior outside hitter Sarah Gregorini (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) contributed nine kills, 10 digs, one block solo and one block assist.
Freshman libero Cecilia Blanc (Laytonsville, Md./Poolesville) added a match-best 11 digs, while junior setter Katie Obal (Olney, Md./Sherwood) dished out 35 assists and chipped in six digs, three kills, and one service ace.

Kodan continued her dominance on attack
as she notched 18 kills and two block assists in leading St. Mary's
to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) sweep of FDU-Florham (13-5) in its
second match of the night. Kodan recorded
her 11th double-double of the season as she also had 11 digs.
Gregorini and sophomore middle blocker Gena Hlavinka (Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) each tallied seven kills each. Gregorini had six digs as well, while Hlavinka registered three block solos and one block assist.
Senior middle blocker Jen Lamar (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) added six kills and five block assists as the Seahawks came up with nine total blocks.
The Seahawks will return to action tomorrow as St. Mary's takes on the host at 11:00 am and Wilkes University at 3:00 pm.
