Kodan Lone Seahawk on All-CAC Volleyball Team

York, Pa. - The 2009 All-Capital Athletic Conference volleyball teams were released Tuesday afternoon by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, and junior Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) was St. Mary's College of Maryland's only representative.

Claire Kodan This is Kodan's third consecutive all-conference selection and second first-team award of her career.  The 5-11 outside hitter paced the Seahawks offensively with 412 kills for a 3.49 average while serving up a team-best 44 aces for a 0.37 average.  Defensively, she was third on the team with 361 digs for a 3.06 average.  Kodan added 43.0 total blocks as well on nine block solos and 34 block assists.

Within the league, she ranked third in kills and ninth in digs.

 Last season, Kodan was an honorable mention American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection as well as a second team All-CAC.

As a freshman, she was named the 2007 AVCA Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year while earning honorable mention AVCA All-America honors as well as an AVCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection.  Kodan was also selected to the All-CAC First Team.

St. Mary's finished this year's campaign with an 18-14 overall record and a 4-4 mark in league action, falling in the CAC first round to York (Pa.) College in four sets.
