St. Marys Sweeps Marymount in CAC Regular-Season Finale
Arlington, Va. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team ended the Capital Athletic Conference regular season with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-12) sweep of Marymount (Va.) University Wednesday night.
Junior outside hitter Katie Ewing (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) paced the Seahawks (24-6, 7-1 CAC) with nine kills, while fellow classmate Sarah Gregorini (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the defense with 11 digs.
Junior setter Jenn Feldmann (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) dished out 18 assists, while senior Megan Graydon (West Friendship, Md./Glenelg) added a dozen.
Senior middle blocker Becca Tursell (Ellicott City, Md./Glenelg) served up a match-high two aces and recorded three total blocks (1 BS, 2 BA), while chipping in three kills. Junior middle blocker Jen Lamar (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) contributed six kills and three total blocks as well.
For Marymount, senior Christina LaVigna (East Morachies, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) had seven kills, while junior libero Liz Paccione (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley) picked up 13 digs.
The Seahawks will close out the 2008 regular season this Saturday, November 1 when St. Mary's hosts a tri-match with Cabrini College and Rutgers University-Newark on Senior Day. The ‘Hawks will face Rutgers-Newark at 10:00 am and Cabrini at 2:00 pm.
