Kodan Picked as Co-CAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week
York, Pa. - Sophomore Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team became the first Seahawk volleyball player to be selected as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Volleyball Player-of-the-Week as announced by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes.
Kodan shares the weekly honor for the week ending September 14 with Salisbury University's Rachel Downes after leading the Sea Gulls to an undefeated week and being named the tournament MVP at Swarthmore College's Sixth Annual Garnet Classic over the weekend.
The 5-10 outside hitter helped St. Mary's improve to 9-1 overall with a 3-0 week. Kodan started with seven kills in a CAC shutout of York (Pa.) College.
She then followed up with a double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs in a five-set triumph over Randolph-Macon College at the R-MC Tournament. Kodan finished the week with nine kills and a .467 attack percentage in a win over Trinity (D.C.) University. For her 22-kill, 19-dig performance, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Kodan currently ranks ninth in the conference in hitting percentage with .298.
St. Mary's returns to action on Friday, September 19 when the Seahawks travel to Frederick, Md. to face Hood College in a conference tilt at 7:00 before playing in a tri-match the following day at Gettysburg College with Bryn Mawr College.
