Ewing Second Seahawk to Earn CAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Week

York, Pa. - Junior Katie Ewing (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team is the second Seahawk volleyball player to be selected as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Volleyball Player-of-the-Week as announced by the conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, Monday afternoon.

Ewing earned the weekly honor for the week ending November 2 after leading the Seahawks (26-6, 7-1 CAC) to a 3-0 week in their final week of regular season action.

Ewing The 6-1 outside hitter recorded 30 kills and a .455 hitting percentage as St. Mary's posted 3-0 sweeps of Marymount (Va.) University, Rutgers University-Newark and Cabrini College.  Ewing twice registered double digit kills along with five digs and four total blocks.

She started the week with nine kills in a sweep of Marymount followed by 10 kills and a .833 hitting percentage in 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark.  Ewing ended the week with 11 kills, three digs, and two block assists in a three-set victory over Cabrini.

Ewing currently ranks first in the conference in hitting percentage with .359.

St. Mary's returns to action this Thursday, November 6 when the second-seeded Seahawks host the winner of the quarterfinal match-up between No. 3-seed Stevenson University and No. 6-seed York (Pa.) College in the CAC Semifinals at 7:00 in the Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
