Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team (5-1) continued play at the PTR Spring TennisFest Wednesday afternoon, blanking Greenville University in a non-conference match.

How It Happened

Doubles:

  • Senior captain Melissa Barall (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and first-year Sophia Gary (Germantown, Md./Holton-Arms) stayed undefeated by winning 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
  • Seniors Chelsea English (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Raziela Manangan (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) won their second match in as many days as they took down Courtney Blaser and Samantha Siefken, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles.
  • First-year Alden Grosh (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg) and senior Savannah Bergen (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) teamed up for an 8-1 win over Annie Bellinger and Allison Fennewald.

Singles:

  • Sophomore Claire Bodine (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg), Barall, Gary, Manangan, Grosh, and English all posted straight-set victories in singles action to propel St. Mary's to the 9-0 win.
