Fredericksburg, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team closed out their fall season at the 2016 ITA Southeast Regional Championships this past weekend hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
- The team of first-year Claire Bodine (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) and junior Savannah Bergen (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) put in a great effort in their consolation quarterfinal match against Washington College's Allie Boissonneault and Virginia Giacardi. However, the duo came up short, falling 9-8 (7-3).
- Team captains Marissa Romanek (Sunderland, Md./Huntingtown) and Raziela Manangan (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) dropped their doubles matchup but managed to win four games against Bridgewater College's Jamiah Lewis and Shannon Quinn.
- Bodine would provide the most exciting match of the weekend for the Seahawks. After going down 5-2 against Muhlenberg College's Carina Nicolaisen, Bodine would go on to win the next six games to capture the match, 8-5. Bodine would also go on to best Goucher College's Leigh Oehrig, 8-3, in a consolation semifinal matchup.
- Romanek would fall in her consolation semifinal matchup but battled, dropping a hard fought 8-6 decision to Randolph College's Aubrey Hawn.
