Seahawk Women's Tennis Sweeps Wesley and Trinity Washington

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team extended their win streak to five straight on Tuesday with a pair of shutout wins over Wesley College (0-1, 0-1 CAC) and Trinity Washington University (0-4). The Seahawks (8-7, 1-0 CAC) dropped only one set between the two matches.

Senior captain Marie Rau (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) remains undefeated in singles action with a 5-0 record following her two wins today. Rau started off with an 8-0 win over Wesley's junior Tori Dunbar (Hockessin, Del./Wilmington Christian) at No. 4 singles before posting a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory over Trinity's junior Cindy Mendez (Silver Spring, Md.) at No. 5 singles.

Rau also teamed up with first-year Emily Rost (Germantown, Md.) for an 8-0 victory over Trinity's Mendez and junior Zubaydah Madyon (Chicago, Ill.) at No. 3 doubles.

E. Rost is now on a four-match win streak after recording an 8-0 win over Wesley's Brittany Blacksten (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) at No. 3 singles and a double-bagel victory over Trinity's sophomore Shari King (Washington, D.C.) at No. 4 singles.

First-year Anna Passaniti (White Hall, Md./Hereford) improved to 7-5 on the year in singles action as Passaniti stretched her win streak to four with an 8-0 triumph over Trinity's sophomore Audrey Wabdji (Cameroon).

Passaniti and senior captain Chelsea Bradcovich (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) moved to 10-2 on the season and built their win streak to four straight, registering an 8-1 win over Wesley's Blacksten and Dunbar and an 8-0 shutout over Wabdji and King.

Sophomore Emily Stumpfig (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) is riding a four-match win streak as well as Stumpfig posted a pair of 8-0 wins over Wesley's first-year Ann Louty (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) and Trinity's senior Lakia Meriwether (Washington, D.C.).

St. Mary's will be back in action on Monday, March 25 when the Seahawks travel to York College of Pennsylvania for a Capital Athletic Conference match at 3:30 pm.
