York, Pa. – First-year Emily Stumpfig (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award to her impressive start as conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, announced the weekly winners Tuesday afternoon.  This is the first CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor awarded this season.

Stumpfig was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after opening the season with a 10-1 singles record, including an undefeated mark in eight dual matches.  The 5-7 first-year player kicked off her rookie campaign with four straight wins before falling in the Flight III championship match at the Goucher College Open on October 1-2.

She is currently riding a five-match singles win streak, helping St. Mary's College of Maryland to a 6-2 overall team record.

Stumpfig is also 5-1 in doubles action, owning a 5-0 record at the No. 3 doubles position with three different partners.

The Seahawks will be back on the court this Saturday, March 10 when St. Mary's travels to Staunton, Virginia to take on Mary Baldwin College in non-conference action at 1:00 pm.
