Handy, Mullennix, Ramsey Winners in St. Mary's Season Finale Loss
Towson, Md. – Sophomore Kathleen Ramsey (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) and first-years Beth Handy (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) and Shelby Mullennix (California, Md./Leonardtown) all won as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss in their season finale at Goucher College Thursday afternoon.
Handy and Mullennix teamed up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-6 win over junior Andrea Stephaich (Pittsburgh, Pa./The Ellis School) and sophomore Mara Bergman (Summit, N.J./Summit). With the win, the duo finished the season with a 3-0 mark.
Surpassing her team-leading singles wins mark of 12 from last year, Ramsey tied for team honors as she picked up her 15th singles win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Stephaich at No. 6 singles. Ramsey (15-3) and first-year Chelsea Bradcovich (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) both finished with 15 singles wins for the team lead as Bradcovich posted a 15-8 record at No. 5 singles.
The Seahawks finished the 2009-10 campaign with a 10-11 overall record, notching 10 wins for the second consecutive season.
