Seahawks Roll to Second Win
Staunton, Va. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s tennis team notched a 7-2 non-conference victory over Mary Baldwin College Thursday afternoon to extend their win streak to two matches in a row.
The tandem of sophomores Aviva Brown (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill) and Alli Crawford (Frederick, Md./Urbana) picked up their third straight win for a 3-0 mark at No. 3 doubles with an 8-3 win over senior Dariya Caron (King George, Va./St. Margaret’s) and first-year Nycole Bell (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams).
Senior captain Michelle Compton (Havre de Grace, Md./Tome), sophomore Jackie Brady (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), and first-years Chelsea Bradcovich (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Beth Handy (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) all tallied their second straight victory with Bradcovich registering her team-leading 11th win.
St. Mary’s will be back in action Saturday, April 3 as the Seahawks return to Capital Athletic Conference action with a 12:00 pm match at Stevenson University.
