Andre Barbins is halfway through his second decade as Barbins commences his 15th season at the helm of the Seahawk men's and women's swimming programs in 2012-13.  In his 14 years, he has amassed a combined record of 137-124-1 (88-89-1 CAC).

Barbins enjoyed his most successful season as the head women's swimming coach in 2011-12.  The Seahawk women posted program-bests of 14 dual-meet victories and six conference wins as St. Mary's finished the season with a 14-1 (6-0 CAC) record.  The women's undefeated mark in conference action granted St. Mary's first CAC regular-season title and included the Seahawks' first-ever win over the University of Mary Washington to snap a 21-meet losing streak.

He was tapped as the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career, having also received the honor in 2004, 2008 and 2009.  The Seahawks finished second at the CAC Championships for the fifth consecutive season while Barbins coached his fourth CAC Women's Rookie of the Year in Brooke Raab '15.

He also serves as the aquatics director for the Michael P. O'Brien ARC Aquatics Center.

The women have set 55 school records since his arrival in 1998, including establishing 16 of 19 possible team records during the 2008-09 season, while seven Seahawk women have qualified for 10 NCAA Division III Championships, starting in 1992 with Paula Stamnos Goodwin '94.
