Heyde Wraps Up at NCAAs

Indianapolis, Ind. – St. Mary's College of Maryland junior Kelly Heyde (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) ended her third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday after competing in her final event – the 200 butterfly.

Heyde swam a 2:09.24 in the 200 fly event Friday morning to finish 22nd after entering the morning's preliminaries seeded 24th in the event with her NCAA provisional time of 2:07.42.

The 2012 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships are being held March 21-24 at the Indiana Natatorium in Indianapolis.  Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation are serving as the hosts.  The men's and women's team national champions will be crowned tomorrow evening.

A total of 521 participants (235 male swimmers and 22 male divers; 242 female swimmers and 22 female divers) have competed in this week's championships.  Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered.

Recapping Heyde's solid third NCAA trip, she finished 22nd in the 200 butterfly, 23rd in the 400 individual medley, and 40th in the 200 individual medley.
