St. Mary's Women's Swimming Falls at No. 4 Johns Hopkins

Baltimore, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team recorded its first loss of the season as the Seahawks (15-0) suffered a 120-77 setback at the hands of No. 4 Johns Hopkins University in non-conference action Friday evening.

First-year Elaina Kohles (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) claimed first-place in the 500 freestyle in 5:29.42 while sophomore Stefania D'Ambrosio (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) won the 100 breaststroke event in 1:12.99.  The Seahawk 200 freestyle relay squad earned a victory while the 200 medley relay team came in third.

Junior captain Kelly Heyde (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) touched the wall second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.74 while first-year Kelsey Abernathy (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was in close pursuit in third in 1:03.25.  Kohles paced the Seahawks in the 1000 freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 11:23.55 while sophomore Claire Huckenpoehler (Towson, Md./Towson) finished fifth in 12:01.72.

First-year Hannah Hafey (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.94 while sophomore Erin O'Connor (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) placed fifth in 2:05.00.  Abernathy came in third in the 50 freestyle in 26.40 followed by D'Ambrosio in fifth in 27.73.

First-year Brooke Raab (Parkton, Md./Hereford) notched a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.60 while junior Daisy Smith (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) took fifth in 2:24.11.  O'Connor claimed fourth in the 100 freestyle in 58.02 while Raab was fifth in 59.26.

Hafey took third in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.55 while senior Chris DiMenna (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) finished fifth in 1:07.27.

St. Mary's returns to the pool tomorrow as the Seahawks travel to the Eastern Shore to face Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action.  The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
