NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships Kicked Off Today
Minneapolis, Minn. – Senior Rachel Hotchko (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis) and first-year Kelly Heyde (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) had their first taste of NCAA action Wednesday morning as the 2010 NCAA Division III Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships got underway at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
In her third consecutive trip to NCAA championships,
Hotchko finished 46th in the preliminaries of the
50 freestyle with her time of 24.81. This year’s
placement was a 10-spot improvement from last season’s finish
of 56th. She would not advance to the evening’s finals
as only the top 16 advance.
The 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Female Rookie of the Year, Heyde also competed on the first day of the NCAA championships as she swam in the 200 individual medley and placed 31st in the event in 2:09.85.
This is the fifth consecutive season that the Seahawks have had at least one representative at the NCAA championships. The championships are being hosted by Beloit College and The College of Wooster at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
