The executive director of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, Bob Groseth, released the 2010 Scholar All-America Team honors for the spring semester and the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swimming team found themselves on the list.

Senior Rachel Hotchko scored her career-best NCAA finish Thursday morning as the butterfly specialist notched a 20th-place finish in the 100 butterfly in the second day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Division III Mens & Womens Swimming & Diving Championships got underway at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Hotchko, Heyde Headed to NCAA Championships
The official psych sheet for the 2010 NCAA Division III Womens Swimming & Diving Championships was released earlier this week and St. Marys College of Maryland will have two representatives at this years championships in senior Rachel Hotchko and first-year Kelly Heyde. This marks the fifth year in a row that the Seahawks will be competing at the NCAA championships.

Heyde Tabbed CAC Rookie of the Year as St. Marys Finishes Second at CACs
St. Mary's College of Maryland freshman Kelly Heyde was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Female Rookie of the Year while University of Mary Washington junior Sarah Crockett was named the CAC Female Swimmer of the Year. Crockett became just the second swimmer in conference history to win seven gold medals.

St. Marys Third after First Day of CAC Championships
The 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming Championships kicked off Friday evening with timed finals at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The traditional morning preliminary trials were canceled in response to transportation safety concerns for the six visiting teams as a result of the record snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Minor Changes to CAC Swimming Championships Schedule
As Governor Martin O'Malley issued a Declaration of Emergency for the entire state and declared that non-emergency vehicles remain off the roads, changes have been made to the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming Championships hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland on February 12, 13, and 14.

In their first dual meet action since November 21, 2009, the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team only picked up two first-place finishes, falling 132-73 to fourth-ranked University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The loss was the first for the Seahawks in league meets.

Heyde Unanimous December Athlete of the Month
Kelly Heyde of the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swim team was selected by the Department of Athletics and Recreation as the December Athlete of the Month after setting two Capital Athletic Conference records and two school marks along with three NCAA cuts as St. Marys finished sixth at the 13-team Franklin & Marshall College Invitational.

Freshman Kelly Heyde racked up two Capital Athletic Conference records and two school records as well as four NCAA cuts as the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swim team finished sixth at the two-day 2009 Franklin & Marshall College Invitational which wrapped up Sunday evening with the crowning of The College of New Jersey as the team champion.

Barbins Named to ASCA Awards of Excellence List
Andre Barbins, the head mens and womens swimming coach at St. Marys College of Maryland, has been recognized by the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) by being named to its 2009 Awards of Excellence List. The ASCA annually recognizes those coaches who have guided a swimmer to a top-eight finish at one of several USA national level championships.
