St. Marys Womens Swimming Honored for Good Grades
The president of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), George Kennedy, released today the 2009 individual and team scholar All-American lists and the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swimming team was represented on both lists.

McDowell Selected as CACs 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year Candidate
St. Marys College of Maryland senior swimming All-American Brie McDowell was selected by the Capital Athletic Conference Directors of Athletics as the conferences 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year as announced by CAC commissioner, Tom Byrnes, on June 24.

McDowell, Hotchko Headed to NCAA Championships
Yesterday, the NCAA released the official psych sheet for the 2009 NCAA Division III Womens Swimming & Diving Championships and St. Marys College of Maryland will have two representatives at this years championships in senior Brie McDowell and junior Rachel Hotchko. This marks the fourth consecutive season that the Seahawks will be competing in the NCAA championships.

The oldest remaining womens swimming record fell Saturday afternoon as the St. Marys College of Maryland mens and womens swim teams hosted their annual Seahawk Invitational, a last chance meet for those swimmers looking to improve their times in order to qualify for the NCAA Division III Mens & Womens Swimming Championships in March.

Senior captain Brie McDowell earned Capital Athletic Conference Female Swimmer-of-the-Year honors for the second time in her three-year career as a member of the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swim team. Senior captain Brie McDowell captured three individual events in leading the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swim team to a 133-72 victory over host Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Seahawks improved to 6-3 (5-1 CAC), while Salisbury dropped to 6-5 (3-3 CAC).

Seahawks Drop 129-76 Decision at Mary Washington
The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team won five events but succumbed to the University of Mary Washington by a 129-76 decision Saturday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference meet. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 5-3 overall (4-1 CAC), while Mary Washington improved to 5-0 overall (4-0 CAC).

Senior captain Brie McDowell set a school record in the 200 free as the St. Marys College of Maryland womens swim team swept its tri-meet with Catholic University and Capital Athletic Conference opponent, Hood College, Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks (2-0, 1-0 CAC) picked up a 154-51 win over Catholic and a 170-28 victory over Hood.
