St. Marys Ends Regular Season with Win at Salisbury
Salisbury, Md. - Senior captain Brie McDowell (Doylestown, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) captured three individual events in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team to a 133-72 victory over host Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Seahawks improved to 6-3 (5-1 CAC), while Salisbury dropped to 5-0 overall (4-0 CAC).
400 SC Meter Medley Relay: Junior Monika Disque (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), sophomore Sofia Sokolove (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), junior Rachel Hotchko (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis) and senior Eleanor Koerner (North Potomac, Md./T.S. Wootton) swam a 4:46.87 to capture the event.
800 SC Meter Free: McDowell won the event in 9:45.50, while junior Laura VanBlargan (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) placed third in 10:09.90 and freshman Katelyn Grue (Ellicott City, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) was fourth (10:18.50).
200 SC Meter Free: Koerner took first in 2:17.41, while senior captain Nat Schaefer (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) came in third in 2:23.62 followed by Disque in fourth (2:23.84).
50 SC Meter Free: Hotchko captured the event in 28.78, while junior Dominique Perez (Rockville, Md./Holy Child) was third in 29.77 and sophomore Arielle Webster (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) fourth in 30.13.
200 SC Meter IM: The Seahawks swept top three spots as McDowell led the way with her first-place finish in 2:32.77. Sokolove took second in 2:38.57 followed by sophomore Rosa Trembour (Takoma Park, Md./Albert Einstein) in 2:42.34.
200 SC Meter Fly: Hotchko placed second in 2:32.18, while junior Anna Chiplis (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) was third in 2:38.32. Freshman Katie Serfling (Frederick, Md./Urbana) took fifth in 2:46.81.
100 SC Meter Free: Perez was third (1:06.07), while freshman Christina DiMenna (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) took fourth (1:06.38) and Webster fifth in 1:06.72.
200 SC Meter Back: McDowell came in first in 2:32.31, while Disque placed third in 2:36.69.
400 SC Meter Free: Schaefer was second in 4:59.73, while Grue came in third (5:05.29) and VanBlargan fourth in 5:05.81.
200 SC Meter Breast: Freshman Amanda Pazouki (Silver Spring, Md./JFK) captured her first collegiate event as Pazouki swam the event in 2:53.86 followed by Sokolove in second in 2:57.14. Grue was fifth in 3:02.32.
400 SC Meter Free Relay: Perez, DiMenna, Webster, and Koerner won the event in 4:18.07.
The Seahawks are idle until the CAC Championships on Friday-Sunday, February 13-15 at St. Mary's.
