McDowell Unanimous as St. Marys November Athlete-of-the-Month
St. Mary's City, Md. - Brie McDowell (Doylestown, Pa.), a member of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team, picked up her third career athlete-of-the-month citation as McDowell was selected by the Department of Athletics and Recreation as the November Athlete-of-the-Month.
The senior captain has helped St. Mary's kick off the 2008-09 campaign with a 5-2 overall record, including an undefeated 5-0 mark in Capital Athletic Conference action.
McDowell has had a strong start for the Seahawks as she has thus far set two school records in the 200 free (1:57.58) and the 400 IM (4:38.74), while establishing a pair of NCAA ‘B' cuts in the 100 back (59.42) and the 400 IM.
The Hatboro-Horsham HS product is currently undefeated in both her individual and relay events.
McDowell presently owns the third best time in Division III in the 100 back and the fifth best time in the 400 IM.
Not only has she set records at St. Mary's, McDowell also registered three pool records at York (Pa.) College and a pair at Randolph-Macon College.
She earned back-to-back selections as CAC Female Swimmer-of-the-Week (November 11 and 18) for her record-setting efforts this month.
