McDowell Picks Up National Swimmer-of-the-Week Laurels

York, Pa. - On the heels of earning Capital Athletic Conference swimmer-of-the-week honors on Tuesday, St. Mary's College of Maryland's Brie McDowell (Doylestown, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was recognized nationally as McDowell earned Counsilman Hunsaker Division III National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week accolades for Division III for the week ending November 9 as announced by CollegeSwimming.com.
The senior captain set a school record in the 200 free as St. Mary's swept its tri-meet with Catholic University and league opponent, Hood College, on November 8. The Seahawks (2-0, 1-0 CAC) picked up a 154-51 win over Catholic and a 170-28 victory over Hood.
McDowell broke her own mark from two years ago when she posted a first-place time of 1:57.85, beating her old record by 0.87 seconds.
She also captured the 100 back with an NCAA provisional time of 59.42 and was also the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay team which posted a 1:54.09.
