Esparza Picks Up CAC Womens Soccer Player of the Week Honor

York, Pa. - Sophia Esparza (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team was selected the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week as announced by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, earning the weekly honor for the week ending October 4.
The 5-7 senior midfielder guided the Seahawks (4-6, 2-1 CAC) to a
split of last week's contests, including a 4-2 victory over No. 24
Catholic University.
Esparza started the week with two goals, including her team-leading fifth goal of the season, in St. Mary's dominating 4-2 win over nationally ranked Catholic.
She then assisted on the Seahawks' lone goal in a 2-1 setback at Christopher Newport University.
Esparza is tied for fifth in the conference in both goals (5) and points (13), while being tied for sixth in assists (3).
The Seahawks are playing tonight in Washington, D.C. as St. Mary's is taking on Gallaudet University in a league match-up under the lights at 7:00 pm.
