Carrier Named CAC Womens Soccer Player-of-the-Week
York, Pa. - Senior Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer became the first Seahawk women's soccer player to be selected the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week as announced by the conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes. Carrier earns the weekly honor for the week ending September 14.
The 5-5 forward scored five goals in two outings for the undefeated Seahawks (4-0-1). Carrier started the week with a career-best performance, scoring every goal of a 4-0 CAC triumph at Hood. She then tallied an equalizer as SMCM upended Elizabethtown College, the seventh-ranked team in the region, by a 3-2 margin. For the season, Carrier leads the Seahawks with 13 points on six goals and an assist.
She currently ranks second in the league in points, points per game with a 2.6 average, goals, and goals per game with a 1.2 average.
St. Mary's returns to action tomorrow as the Seahawks welcome the No. 15 Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins University for a non-conference tilt at 4:00 at Seahawk Stadium. Johns Hopkins is also unbeaten with a 4-0-1 mark, having played No. 2 Messiah College to a scoreless draw in its last outing on September 10.
