St. Mary's City, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation for Internal Operations Jim Cranmer announced Friday the hiring of Anna Lindgren-Streicher as the next head coach of the St. Mary's men's and women's rowing programs. Lindgren-Streicher will begin her duties on Wednesday, September 5.

The 14-year coaching veteran comes to the St. Mary's City campus from Division II Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Lindgren-Streicher has spent the last two years as an assistant coach for the women's rowing team, primarily responsible for coaching the varsity four and second varsity four crews.

"I am excited that Anna will be joining our department. It was a gifted pool of applicants but the search committee felt that Anna's experience both as a student-athlete and a long-time assistant coach at Tufts made her stand out. Dan Hagelberg started the program two years ago and though I was sorry to see him leave, I am excited to see Anna build on the foundation he has left behind and lead our rowing teams to the next level in the MARC. I would also like to thank the search committee and the student-athletes that participated in the search," said Cranmer.

The Middleton, Wis., native will take over the two-year old fledgling varsity programs from Daniel Hagelberg, who stepped down at the end of June to pursue professional opportunities in the legal and political sectors. She inherits a women's team which notched back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships in 2017 and 2018.

The men's and women's teams combined for 12 All-MARC awards as well in two years. Additionally, St. Mary's picked up 22 MARC Academic All-Conference honors.

Lindgren-Streicher expressed, "I'm excited to join the Seahawks. As a newer varsity program, I believe there is huge room for continued growth and I am thrilled to be able to help develop that speed and success. Everyone I met at SMCM during the interview process spoke highly of the student-athletes who chose to be a part of this community, and I look forward to getting down to work with the team."

While at Nova Southeastern, she led the varsity four to second place and the second varsity four to first place at the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Championships as well as the second varsity eight to second at the 2017 Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships. The Sharks also claimed first in the team standings at the FIRA Championships.

Lindgren-Streicher spent 12 years at her alma mater, Tufts University, in various coaching roles, including four years as the associate head coach of the men's rowing team between 2012 and 2016.

Rooted in a strong academic background, she mentored 41 student-athletes at Nova to the Sunshine Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and 31 student-athletes at Tufts to the New England Small Colleges Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Team in her final two seasons with the Jumbos.

Lindgren-Streicher earned her B.A. in psychology from Tufts in 2004, where she competed on the varsity women's squad for four years. She then pursued an M.A. in educational studies at Tufts in 2010.
