Katchmar Tallies 100th Point in Victory Over Randolph-Macon

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Caitlin Katchmar tallied her 100th point in a 20-9 victory over the visiting Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets on Wednesday (Mar. 20) afternoon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium. Katchmar recorded a team-best eight points and now has 101 career points.

How It Happened

  • The Seahawks started the game fast with three-straight goals for a quick lead in the first two minutes of action. Lucy Gussio, Susanna Schmidt, and Caitlin Katchmar recorded goals during the quick scoring burst. Next, the Yellow Jackets responded with three goals of their own, tying the game at three.

  • Knotted up 4-4 with 20 minutes remaining in the first half, the Seahawks used another run with four-straight goals to take a 8-4 lead. Katchmar, Jayne Barkman, Sydni Thacker, and Kate Bartholomew found the back of the cage during the scoring burst. St. Mary's College closed the half strong with three-straight goals and held an 11-6 advantage over Randolph-Macon at halftime.

  • St. Mary's College continued their impressive offensive output in the second half and tightened up defensively. The Seahawks managed to score nine times while allowing just three goals on the defensive end. Katchmar found the back of the net three times in the second half, while Gussio and Bartholomew scored twice.

  • As mentioned, Katchmar led the Seahawks on the offensive end with a team-best eight points and surpassed 100 career points. Gussio (4g, 1a) and Bartholomew (4g, 1a) followed with five points each. In addition, Annalise Wrobel beat the opposing goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.
